Joo couldn’t help the smile that curled onto her lips. “Already up to eleven and still almost three weeks to go,” she chuckled. “You’ve got your work cut out for you.” The sense of pride she felt when she saw the smallest smile flicker across Jun’s face was indescribable.
“Yeah, I suppose I do,” Jun said softly, her words lined with a teasing tone that sent butterflies swirling around Joo’s stomach. “I guess your company will have to get me through?” There was a hopeful lilt to the sentence, and Joo felt her heart squeeze.
“Of course,” she said quickly, “it’s the least I can do.”

“So, like, is he actually a clone?” Jooyeon asks, and Hyeongjun still doesn’t like being spoken about as if he’s not a real person. “He looks like you when we debuted.”
Hyeongjun furrows his eyebrows. “We haven’t debuted yet. It’s still a week away.”
The six in front of him share a look of disbelief.
“Hyeongjun,” Gunil starts, voice careful, “What year is it?”
“Twenty twenty-one.”
The expression of the others and their muffled conversation makes Hyeongjun think that right now, wherever he is, that answer probably isn’t true.
The week preceding his debut, Hyeongjun gets to spend a day in the future.
