Jeremy’s stomach is a tight, roiling knot, like he swallowed something sharp and it’s lodged there, refusing to move, hot and heavy. Tonight matters. Tonight could change everything—could split his life cleanly down the middle into before and after.

    Summary

“Concussion. My helmet-I...” Jeremy can hear the slight slur of his own words, and tries his best to carefully speak again. “I think I'm okay.”

Jean treats him to a withering glare, unimpressed, before his expression pales slightly, and Jeremy does not have to guess as to why. The backliner pulls his hand from Jeremy's skull, holding it in front of him so he can see as well.

    Red.

Slick and bright, coating Jean's fingers.

Or: Jeremy is badly injured, and finds it increasingly difficult to keep his feelings for a certain former Raven under wraps as some interesting facts come to light.

    Summary

    JereJean. Darker, grittier, grander.
A four part story of vengeance, freedom, and taking back what the world owes.

And there, before the goal, flashing red, stood Jean–shoulders heaving, exy racket in hand still half raised from the shot. For a second he was drenched from helmet to sneakers, color reflecting off the polyester jersey like it was fluid, red light pouring neon blood over the gold 29 on his back. An apparition. No–a premonition; of death, of a win, of finishing it all. The end line. The red and gold god of calm chaos. It lasted a moment but Jeremy was mesmerized, the picture burned into his mind like it was a photograph. Jean. Winner.

He ran then, let the racket clatter to the floor and just fucking ran across the court. Jean was already surrounded by the closest players, his arms raised above his head, held by them, supported. He was a Trojan. He was theirs. They were his, even if he never acknowledged it. Jeremy pushed through like an overbearing mother. His smile was wide when he hooked his gloved fingers into the netting of the helmet and pulled their heads close, visors butting. Jean let him. He let him.

    "You won!"
