Things do not always go smoothly, but sometimes the family you find is the one you should have had all along.
It's a pretty light Mature that could probably have been okay as a heavy Teen. Fully written and beta-read; 73k of raising children, standing up for what one values, and falling in love.

Troi is injured, and Riker must help her. Barclay thinks he knows why, but can't get anyone to listen. Data tries to bridge the gap.

The shaking doesn't stop, but it changes, going finer and faster. "Taizi dianxia?" The words are breathed with what sounds like half-broken hope.
There's only one reason for San Lang to be like this: something very bad has happened to Xie Lian.
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng decide to try bondage. It does not go well. This is closer to a "how not to BDSM" manual, although they manage to stumble their way into something that could almost be aftercare if you squint hard enough. It's also less dark than it sounds, though; it's mostly the comfort part of hurt/comfort.
It does not actually contain particularly explicit smut; if you're here for sexy bondage times, this is not the story for you. This is the opposite of that. This is about helping your lover put themselves back together when you've accidentally hit a trauma trigger.
Set post-canon and/or post-AU; this is part of my Life Unbound series but the references to it are minimal. It should be readable without reading the series.

One-third canon-parallel plot, one-third smut, and one-third the boys actually talking to each other and processing their trauma. The smut contains character development but can be skipped.
This is part 4 of a canon divergence AU. At this point, things will make more sense if you read the previous three parts, but we're still close enough to canon that you can probably follow along anyway.

After becoming lovers in Mount Tong'lu, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng attempt to prevent White No-Face from becoming a Supreme. This does not go well for anyone, and Xie Lian has a rather miserable few weeks.
Series is canon divergence after Mu Qing ordered Xie Lian to remove the affinity knot on his finger (Strings Unbound, replaces novel ch 176). This fic covers roughly novel chapters 178–180 and 199.
I've been told this isn't so very dark, unless it hits your triggers. So, please pay attention to the tags. It does end happily. I promise!
