Every now and then, you’d see Copia in the corner of your eye, while you were working. You never got a good enough look to be certain, but you could have sworn he was giving you that same soft smile…or something very close to it. When you looked his way, though, he always found something else to do, busying himself with the admittedly sizable amount of work he had to get through. It made you wonder if he thought about that night even half as often as you did, if it gave him the same warm ache of longing.
Maybe you were reading too far into it.

It's not a task given to him so willingly.
Sister smiles and carefully seats herself in the chair, reaching out and patting Copia on the back of the hand for a moment, “Cardinal,” she greets him, watching as he moves around the desk to take a seat in his chair again. “I do hope you’re not too irritated at Papa,” she starts, “He’s just a little...disgruntled right now.”
Copia fixes a somewhat professional smile on his face, clasping both hands in front of him on the desk, “I am not of the bloodline, yes? He’s unhappy about that. I think I would be unhappy about it too, if I were him. I know you said this was what the church needs, but maybe perhaps—”

Copia and Dew are leaving to go on tour soon. They spend their last night with Aether.
And while the whole pack will, of course, miss Aether (and Sunshine, who was also staying behind this time), he’d wanted a night with his mate and his Papa, to properly see them off, one last night for the next many months that they’re away.
(Aether already has plans to sneak away midway through the tour to come see a few of the shows, once things at the ministry settle down a bit, but that’s not until later in the summer, and with it only being spring now, time will surely drag on and on and on.)
