“…Okay, not a boyfriend, and not a relative…” Eskild says slowly, still looking very confused. “So… Even’s a childhood friend then?”
Isak wants to say no, no, they are not childhood friends. But most friends don’t sleep in the same bed six days a week, so he swallows his words and nods reluctantly. “Yeah. We’re childhood friends.” It’s almost true except for the friend part.
Isak and Even meet as children, but it takes them a while to become friends. It takes them a little longer to become more.

times and dropped his hands, one of them brushing his neck, sending shock waves through Isak’s body. Jesus, he was hot.

Isak is afraid of heights, and then he gets stuck in a ferris wheel with a stranger.
It doesn't help that the stranger is absolutely, incredibly, astonishingly handsome.

Summary
Isak is starting to lose the plot of the syndicated crime drama blaring on the television—and trying to figure out a way to get Mahdi to explain it to him without sounding stupid—when it happens.
Before Isak can open his mouth to speak, Mahdi turns to him, clears his throat, and casually asks:
“So…what’s Eskild’s deal?”
Or: Mahdi thinks Eskild is hot. Isak just wants to get through this with his sanity intact.

“Ugh, Magnus is right,” groaned Mahdi, “you two are gross.”
“Don’t be jealous, Mahdi,” Isak mumbled, pulling Even down by the back of his neck, fingers tangled in his hair, for a second kiss.
Jonas returned with the beer and Isak and Even pulled apart. For the rest of the evening, the boys talked and laughed. They gave Magnus their best relationship advice and told Even all sorts of stories of dumb things Isak had done before they knew each other. When it was dark and the other boys were filing out, Even looked down at the smaller boy in his lap. “Home?” he asked.
