However, Raelle’s life becomes a lot more difficult when she is given the client from hell. Being that of famous singer and actress, Scylla Ramshorn.

As much as I love Raylla, Maddi was undeniably the most interesting and complex character in the story. She was the kind of character that every actress would fight to play if this story were to be made into a movie or series. She was far from likeable, but her story was so compelling that I couldn’t help but sympathise with her. The way the author wrote about what Maddi went through was graphic and brutal, but it was also open and honest. The ending she chose for herself was probably the best for her own sake.

As for Raylla, I love that Raelle was extremely professional and patient with Scylla, who was in full-on Angry Bird mode in the beginning. She had seen Scylla at her worst and loved her at her worst. Her journey from a caretaker to a Hollywood A-lister was the wildest dream one could ever dream of, but of course she deserves it. And Scylla was obnoxious in the beginning, but I could not find myself being mad at her because my heart was broken for her broken self. And I love that Scylla took care of Raelle in the end just like Raelle took care of Scylla in the beginning. They both love each other at their worst and so deserve each other at their best. The ending couldn’t be more perfect with them continuing to live their best life together with a mutual promise of forever.

The author wrote many scenes in great detail, but I felt that some scenes, such as the ones where they were playing their roles in a movie shoot, were not necessary to be written in such detail. The author put a lot of effort into writing about Maddi, which I think led to some scenes, such as the unexpected romance between Tally and Brooke, being cut short. I also wish the author had written more about Scylla's past and her struggles with alcohol. 8.5/10.

    Bookmarker's Notes

This is the most beautiful, tender, and attentive love letter to Raylla that I've ever read. It is written with such beauty and care, each word about them a loving touch. The author delicately fills in the gaps the show left behind, and beautifully turns their lovemaking scenes into a sacred space for uniting their hearts and souls. I love how Raelle takes the time to heal her relationship with her mom. I love how the author shows both Raelle's and Scylla's thoughts behind each decision they make, and how these decisions shape their destiny. I love how they talk things through with honesty and openness, how Raelle listens to Scylla's account with compassion, and how she forgives her for her past and loves her whole again. "The only thing you are guilty of is loving her." As a Scylla fan, I would gladly accept the charge just as Raelle unapologetically does.

I love how Scylla realizes that after the tragic passing of her parents, Raelle is the one to live for; that Raelle has been her lighthouse, her guiding star, her whole life. I also love how Scylla imagines Raelle's life without her, that Raelle would eventually move on and meet someone who loves and cares for her, and that she will always remember Scylla in her heart, which is enough for Scylla already. The way you write about how Scylla genuinely wishes Raelle happiness while she is facing death alone makes my heart break a little. And Raelle telling Scylla in the dungeon that she is the one, that it has always been her, is the most touching part of the story. "Find something to live for, something that is beautiful and real." They both find each other.

And the final chapter couldn't be more perfect. We get to see how they cherish their life together even though they are stuck in the Spree cell, facing the impending Camarilla threat. The pacing of the final chapter (as well as the entire story) is preciously steady and I love that the author leaves us with a beautiful open ending. I don't need to see them fight any war because I know Raelle and Scylla will always be together, loving and trusting each other, come what may.

I always wondered if they ever crossed paths when the canon Scylla briefly stayed in Cession in her childhood, and the author gives me this stunning alternate story that they did, in their teenage years, and it changed their lives forever. This story truly justifies their deep love for each other. 9/10.

Raelle had always known that Scylla hid parts of herself: her past especially. She accepted it because she loved Scylla, but she'd be lying if she said it didn't bother her.

So when Scylla's past comes knocking on their door in the form of her ex, Porter Tippit...Raelle can't help but start to ask questions, and she finds herself digging into a past that has been purposefully buried.

    ...with good reason.

"Fuck the military. Fuck the Army. And fuck each and every person who thanked them for their unwilling and forced service and sacrifice. They had done away with the civilian draft decades before. The witch draft was unjust, conscription was unjust, and if she had to take thousands of lives to show that, she would. The army wanted their pound of flesh so badly?

    They would have it."
