Summary
There’s a lot on his mind — countless reports still left to sift through, decrees to draft, resources to reallocate. Though most towns do well managing on their own, bandits still remain a problem in the rural areas where their patrols are spread thin, with merchants who aren’t able to hire sellswords to defend their caravans hesitant to travel. Then there’s the matter of Those Who Slither In the Dark, deciding what their next course of action should be, what plans and preparations they’ll need to make before they decide to strike again.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Felix has returned, ten years since he left.

“What are you thinking about?” Felix finally asked, searching his face like he could find the answer.
I love you, was the first thing that came to mind. I don’t want this to ever end, was the next. Today had been just an ordinary day, but it felt like one of the best days of his life. And it was because he had Felix, because he loved him, because he was loved by him. Looking into Felix's eyes, Sylvain rifled through the countless thoughts in his head that arose whenever he thought of Felix, looking for the perfect answer, until he stopped, held on to one. Suddenly, he felt as though he were suddenly outside of his body looking in, unable to control the words running through his mind, unable to keep himself from opening his mouth and saying, "I want to marry you.”

Summary
Even bloodied, Felix always thought Sylvain was beautiful. It was something he learned to accept as an unfortunate truth about himself over a decade prior; he knew it the way he knew their family names and the route to the best gardens at Castle Blaiddyd. He knew it even when he hated it.
“Felix,” Sylvain said in that same gentle voice, and the sound of it made Felix’s head stop spinning for a moment. “There’s a war on. Aren’t there more important things to be afraid of?” No, said something stubborn in his mind. This, Sylvain beneath him and murmuring his name like a lover, was more pressing than Edelgard and her army, or the hastily fortified monastery walls. He understood battle, after all.
But beneath the frightened animal thing in his heart, he knew Sylvain was right. They didn’t have time for this now.

Over two decades of life, Felix learns how to keep living, and eventually he learns how to look love in the eye.

“Don’t make me say it,” Felix mutters, except Sylvain barely even processes the words, because at the same time as he’s speaking, Felix is reaching out and grabbing him somewhat roughly by the upper arm.
“Of course I’m going to make you say it,” Sylvain says. His voice is only slightly faint. “I’m going to make you say it because I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Felix steps in just a little closer. “I missed you,” he says roughly, both like it’s being dragged out of him and like it’s nothing, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “You bastard.”
