Each hour spent as Phantom means two hours recovering for him, so he avoids it as best he can. As the Ghost King, he can't avoid it fully. He does well to stay under the radar, until his boss, Lucius Fox, wants him to work on a Top Secret Project. Coincidentally, he befriends Tim, not realizing who he is dealing with at first. Then Tim helps him recover after a rogue attack, and friendship turns into love quickly.
