“Hey everyone, sorry. Lost in thoughts, I guess,” She breathes once again, all of the guests are now staring at her and, damn, right here and right now she just wants to fall into the ground, to be gone. Not that she did not want to hop on the plane and fly home since yesterday, but let’s just move on. “So, for those who I haven’t had a chance to say hello properly – I am Kiara. And this has got to be one of the happiest days of my life”, she says somewhat cheerfully. And now the whole room disappears as she looks in his eyes across the table. She cannot see anyone else, it’s like they are the only people in this big hall. Like it should have been. Him and Her.
JJ and Kie.
Kiara shakes her head. No, she has to move on now, she has to stop focusing on the past. Their past. She has to accept that right now she is watching him getting married to another girl.

Summary
When Kie stepped on stage, one hand loose around the neck of her bass, the only thing she was aware of was the loudest silence she’d ever heard. One long, agonizing moment of it where she blinked at the crowd spread before her and took in their faces, the way each and every one of them was holding their breath, waiting for someone who wasn’t her.
Then, cacophony. Murmurs turned to shouts, boos, and Kie strode forward and grabbed onto the mic like it was someone’s throat.
“If you want Sarah,” she said, “you can have her.”
And then she sang.

Summary
JJ opened one eye at her and smirked, “Somethin’ botherin’ you this fine evening?”
“Oh, you know, just homeless, hungry, poor, no family, and John B and I got in a fight ‘cause he keeps acting so weird … other than that, everything’s just peachy.” Sarah looked at him, turning her head to see him looking at her with a sad expression. It was an expression she’d never only really seen on JJ once before, it was a face of recognition.
“Welcome to the club,” JJ pulled his hat down over his eyes as he said, “too broke to be Kook, and apparently now, too orphaned to be a Pogue.”
Or, Sarah doesn't go with Topper. Instead, she goes back to the chateau where she finds JJ waiting for John B to come home.
OR Sarah chose one small different path that changes the trajectory of every one of the Pogue's lives.
or... Sarah just really ships Kie and JJ and will be JJ's therapist if it means he stops being an idiot and tells her he loves her. Lots of jiara, lots of pogues being pogues.

Summary
“Where would we even go?” she asks eventually, and she watches the concern in his eyes fade into the background.
JJ just quirks an eyebrow and pokes her gently in the side. “It’s a surprise.”
“I hate surprises, JJ,” she groans, the familiar banter helping to banish her fear too. “Just tell me.”
“I can’t tell you. It would ruin the surprise.”
“But I–”
“Hate surprises,” he finishes for her. “Yeah, yeah. You’ll like this one, I promise.”
He smiles at her fondly, and even though she doesn’t want to go anywhere, she is a tiny bit curious about what he’s planned. But before the thought is even fully formed, she’s remembering cold hands tightly gripping her arms, her mom apologizing as Kiara begged and pleaded with her to stop, to let her go, wriggling to escape their ironclad grasp.
No, it’s safer to stay here, she thinks.
