The Ark is to the End of the World as to We can't do anything: Fuck we can. Same math: The Little Ones Die as to The Little Ones Live. Crowley and Aziraphale are putting everything on the line, against the laws of nature, not just for these wee ones, but for themselves. And they are spent. Now, every molecule of TRY is coming forth, every trick, every book, every debt called in. And to accomplish all this, they both, at the end of all things, might have to break their promises to one another.

Things are not so bright and sparklingly on the other side of protection. While the angel and demon globetrek a wedge begins to form between them. Crowley has been hunting, the Aziraphale is dreaming, and neither one wants to speak of this. To court danger so openly, to admit to a dark fantasy: you must place your trust well with the one you love. But it won't be enough to sidestep the worry, that hiding such a thing is protecting your beloved, because in actuality it's not. Wedge gets bigger, something evil still hunts them, plays on their weaknesses. If they don't hash it out soon, they may not live long enough to do change it.
