To tie up the loose ends of a hunt, Dean is forced to go undercover and visit Brock Pleasure Ranch, a horrifying establishment that markets its inhabitants to people with ‘monstrous’ tastes.
It should have been a simple thing, to persuade a mer to give him a few scales for a spell. All part of the usual Winchester byline: saving people, hunting things.
But Castiel is far less of a ‘thing’ than Dean expected. He might not be human, but he’s definitely a person.
And that means he needs saving, too.

Cas asks Dean to marry him, and Dean can't think of a reason to say no.

"Dean," Cas says calmly, gingerly sitting his fork down, and oh, this is gonna be a thing, Dean can tell. Sure enough, it is because Cas goes on to say, "What would you think if I suggested we get married?"
Dean blinks and swallows the food in his mouth, staring at Cas curiously. "I would think...you were either on drugs or going insane, why?"
"I'm not inebriated, nor mentally unstable."
"I—I…" Dean takes in a deep breath, then blows it out heavily. "Cas, you're not fucking with me, are you?"
"I'm not," Cas tells him.
"Okay," he says, "fuck it, let's get hitched."
"Thank you," Cas murmurs sincerely, then picks his fork back up and goes right back to eating.

Dean rummages around for another knife, a bigger one, better for slicing, and hands it to Cas, “Think you can slice these apples for me?”
Castiel nods and gingerly takes the knife from Dean’s hand, and if Dean didn't know any better he would think it the caution of a man who has never handled a knife in his life, but Dean does know better, and he knows that Cas knows just how to use that knife in a way that hurts.
Dean swallows.
