“Good job,” Dabi murmurs.
He’s sitting with his chin in his hand, watching Hawks. There’s a hint of a smile there, and those blue eyes shine with approval.
Despite himself - despite the irritation of being treated like an invalid, or a child - Hawks feels warmth bloom in his chest. It makes the urgency of his discomfort fade away. Everything feels worth it.
He can’t help but smile back.
He’s so damn easy.
In the aftermath of the Gunga Mountain Villa Raid, Dabi and a heavily injured Hawks run away together. In the safety of their new home, Hawks lets Dabi help nurse him back to health.
It's easier said than done.
