It’s unfair that Pete vents his frustration on Vegas, uses him like a punching bag for his own trauma. Rationally, he knows. He knows Vegas has always been and will always be, even with Kan now dead and gone, nothing but his father’s minion—nothing but a follower, never his own person, always second to someone. First Korn, then Kan, now Porsche. Pete knows that they’re both victims, in their own special ways. So, yeah, maybe the way he treats him is a little unfair—because Vegas is nothing but a pawn in the sick game they’ve been forced to play—but many things in life are.
Vegas is the metaphorical thorn in his side, ingrained so deep under Pete’s skin that it doesn’t even hurt anymore. It’s just uncomfortable as all hell, unnerving—the way they’re so similar, the way all the broken pieces of whatever’s left of their souls always seem to slot together so nicely. Hate doesn’t even begin to describe what they feel for each other. They’re inextricably bonded by trauma, blood, death.

He grabs the forgotten white belt as soon as Vegas is fully unarmed — hopefully. The latter has been at his mercy for long enough, and it’s in this exact moment that he decides it’s time to retaliate. Before Pete can do anything, Vegas seizes the other end of the belt, tugging at it so hard that Pete almost face–plants right against his chest. Vegas makes the most of his temporary stupor to disarm him.
His lips stretch around an amused smile as he twirls the white belt between each finger. Pete studies him carefully, too tired to even try to fight whatever the hell this is. Vegas’ smile grows even bigger as he bunches the fabric in his hands. Then, he’s offering the improvised rope — and both his wrists — up to Pete with reverence. This, too, takes Pete back. It’s exactly what he’d done during their first time at the safe house, and Vegas knows — he’s been fucking with him this whole time, really.
The only difference is now, their roles are reversed. Now, it’s Vegas asking Pete to be tied up.
It’s an interesting foreshadowing to say the least.

At this point, there’s nothing but sheer desperation guiding Shen Qiao’s actions.
“What? How?” he asks, promptly, so eager to please. There’s very little he wouldn’t do to help Yan Wushi. Still, his Taoist heart basically forces him to make things clear this time as well. “I’ll do it. As long as it’s nothing immoral, of course.”
Yan Wushi snickers. Of course. “Let’s dual cultivate,” he suggests, nonchalantly. Shen Qiao’s face goes white, then green, then red. Yan Wushi doesn’t even need to see it to know, that’s why he keeps his head hidden in the hollow of Shen Qiao’s shoulder. The latter feels Yan Wushi’s smile directly against the skin of his neck, and that’s what brings him officially over the edge.
