It was Vash he looked at now; and his apprehension was as keen as his own blades once were. Scrubbed fresh and pink in the tiny hotel shower stall, his brother had dropped himself across the rickety bed like a corpse, naked except for the towel draped over his thighs. The subtle swell of his belly had become much less subtle in the past few weeks. It was still quite small; enough to fill a palm, a round little bump in his hand in the evenings when Vash shifted back into the cradle of his hips. If he hadn't known better, he might have assumed Vash had merely over-indulged.
The boys avoid thinking about the consequences of their bad decisions by making further bad decisions. This time, it works.
