Rhys slid incredulous eyes at her, his brows lifting. I hid the smile that tugged on my lips as I turned to face her, and tried to hide my surprise.
If Mor shined like the sun, then this woman reminded me of the sea at night, glittering, beautiful, breathtaking and dangerous. She was clearly from Summer. Her glossy dark chocolate hair was in an elegant ponytail that drooped down to her back. Her bright turquoise clothes shined against her olive skin, a contrast almost as vivid as her bright teal eyes that stared at me with a gaze so all-consuming I dropped it immediately. Those eyes stripped me down to the bone and seemed to unearth everything in me. They were jaw-dropping, with unnatural gold flakes flickering in them.
I wondered if she could see how broken and damaged I was.
"And Feyre," Rhys drawled, "Meet my kind and soft-spoken sister, Adrienne."

“Azriel, huh?” I said. I could feel blood sliding down the side of my neck. My arms were completely numb below the elbows, already beginning to prickle painfully. He didn’t acknowledge my words, never even glancing at my face. He shifted in preparation to stand without losing his balance or his grip on me, and I winced as his knees pressed into my upper arms and his full weight bore down.
Suddenly, my shadows shifted, just as I saw his curl up over his shoulder. He stiffened slightly as the shadows formed tendrils that brushed up his neck, curling around his ear and threading up through his hair. More tendrils of darkness flowed over the smooth, black material of his tunic, flowing over his broad shoulders and dripping down towards me like tar.
My own shadows were swirling, their whispering in my ear building to a frenzy. I couldn’t make out the words – there were too many voices at once, and the noise was building and building. My shadows twisted and then reached upwards like a handful of spindly fingers reaching out of a grave.
Hazel eyes flicked to mine, and I saw the surprise in them just as our shadows touched, brushing against each other and then surging forwards to embrace completely.
