He did his best to stifle a smile as he heard the muffled curse of the colleague who’d annoyed him most earlier that day. The sound of him stumbling back toward his tent and his zipper going back up was pleasing. He must have seen it all. Xavier couldn’t wait to see his face in the morning.
That motherfucker had pulled Xavier’s lover into any and every stupid little task he could dream up, playing helpless. And she, so kindhearted, had helped him every time, seeing to forget that a capable hunter should have been able to take care of himself. That was only okay if Xavier was the one doing it. He pasted an innocent look on his face, eyes wide with false surprise.
