It was a simple question. One that didn't judge, only expressed some concern. Still, shame burned in Tommy's eyes. Määnin must think he's so lame. Weak. He only felt stupid. Shit like this was what some angsty teenage girls would do. But a guy in his 30s? Definitely not. Tommy had never done anything like that before in his life. It was a grossly pathetic display of vulnerability, and if it were anyone else helping him in this state, he would be filled with a sort of inconceivable rage. But despite his shame, there was something about Tommy helping him like this, having dropped his frontman facade and being entirely genuine; it stirred something in Määnin, something he pretended that he wasn’t so sure was purely platonic.
Määnin ends up in hospital, and Tommy becomes overprotective to a fault. In a platonic way, obviously.
