The low command echoed loudly in the darkness that surrounded them, the cool metal that was pressed against the back of her head a steady reminder of just whom she was facing.
Molten amber was staring at her with an intensity that nearly made her knees buckle under her weight, the authority of his presence undeniable and yet, Lumine found herself hesitating.
“I'm not going to get involved.”
Amber eyes sparked at her refusal, lips curling downwards in displeasure.
The second his gloved fingers brushed over the side of her face she felt the blood in her veins freeze, his touch ghosting over her chilled skin and when they took hold of her chin, his amber eyes hardened.
“Unfortunately,” His cool voice sent a shiver down the length of her spine, amber eyes filled with a light that promised no good. “You already are.”

Summary
There are bad life decisions, and then there are life decisions that seem harmless enough only to come back and bite you in the ass. For Lumine, taking in a stranger, badly wounded and haggard (almost like an injured stray) was simultaneously the best and worst decision she has ever made. But she can hardly be blamed for it; who would have expected that the stranger, wounded and obviously just having escaped from a dangerous situation, would turn out to be the boss of a notorious chinese mafia? Or that said mafia boss would fall for her and now be relentlessly courting her?
And is it bad that she's finding herself more and more attracted to him? He is, after all, incredibly hot, and being at the center of his affections is very, very flattering. But being the partner of a mafia boss is undoubtedly dangerous.
