Five conversations with Midorima, after the breakup.
Finally, Midorima folds his fingers on the table in front of him, staring through them at something neither he nor Kise can see. "Awhile ago, I thought I shared a connection with someone. But it turned out that they didn't feel the same way I did. It ended before I embarrassed myself. But now I wonder if it was just that I was awkward with—with my emotions."
Kise waits. When Midorima says nothing else, Kise prompts, "That's it?"
"What else were you expecting?"
Letting out a deep breath, Kise collapses on the table and slams his tea glass as if it were a pint of beer. "I don't know," he grouches, "something that doesn't sound like a Natsume Soseki novel? Your story is so dull I can't even get drunk to it." He considers it carefully, then adds, "But at least it makes me feel better about myself."
"Fuck you, Kise," Midorima snaps.

A day in the life of Aomine Daiki.
They compromise by playing a couple games of NBA 2K13, which Tetsu is better at than he has a right to be. Satsuki sits on the couch behind them, sipping an iced lemon tea, and cheering, though mainly for Tetsu.“The only one who can beat Aomine-kun is me,” Tetsu says, after his third win. Satsuki chokes a little on her drink.
“Fuck you,” Daiki mutters.
Tetsu flashes him a beatific smile.

Summary
The air was just different when they were together — electric with a current they could call their own. It didn't matter that they didn't have shit in common besides basketball. It was enough that they had basketball, and they had each other. It was simple. Daiki doesn't know what Tetsu thinks about it now, but he knows it did Tetsu a whole lot of good back then. Or at least he hopes it did; most days, he’s got enough regret as it is.
That was middle school, though. They'd been through a lot since then—a long period where they didn't talk to each other, a tense rivalry, a shaky reconciliation, and then friends again, good friends, almost like at Teiko but without the bullshit.
It's the kissing part that's been swept under the rug since.
[or] the one where Aomine Daiki attends a wedding, has a breakdown, and gets back together with his ex-boyfriend. In that order.
