“Blood,” he hissed, turning to face her fully and neglecting to adjust his collar as he did so. “I heard that you served blood.”

Rey works the night-shift at a diner that serves supernatural creatures. When a "newborn" vampire comes in one evening, he turns her life (which had already been a little topsy-turvy) upside down. -

The play Rey is trying to direct is dark -- violent and sexually explicit. Ben is a non-union actor with no resume to speak of, but she's taken a chance and cast him as the male lead. That's not going to work if he keeps mumbling all his nastier lines to his shoes.
Rey's going to have to do some intensive work to get the performance she wants from him.
