Maya hugs her acolyte robes closer to her. “You are too, aren’t you?”
“False equivalence. I am merely jetlagged.” Franziska comes up next to her, following her gaze to the neighboring hotel. She understands, just a little bit better now, why Franziska agreed to lodge in the offices for the night. “You, on the other hand, have no excuse.”

He’d just shoved the lock in his backpack when Edgeworth cleared his throat. Phoenix glanced up to the sight of Miles with his pointer finger up and mouth slightly agape, as if to make a point. “You...have a bike,” he muttered after a long, long minute.
“Oh, yeah.” Phoenix carded a hand through his spikes. “I had to get a new one when I got older, but this one’s been working great since college. The gears need to be oiled and whatnot, but overall great.” Miles still hadn’t given any indication of a response. “Probably doesn’t help that I use old reliable here to travel everywhere, but hey that’s just―”
“Wright.” He shut up immediately. “You are an attorney.”

As Phoenix and Maya attempt to pick up the pieces after Mia's death, Edgeworth and Franziska are likewise struggling to figure out themselves and their feelings in the wake of Von Karma. Mostly about letting people into your life and letting them change your way of life: how caring for others can ultimately help you care for yourself.

“Miles, don’t,” Phoenix cut him off. He took a deep, shuddering breath. “Because if you ask me, I’ll do just about anything. I’d go along. I’d love you recklessly for as long as I could until everything fell apart.” He attempted to put on a smile. It wasn’t convincing. “I don’t think a whole alphabet of exhibits could convince me you’re ready for a relationship that would actually be good for both parties.”
Phoenix is in love with Miles. Miles is in love with Phoenix. These are both matters of public record, and yet they aren't in a relationship. But the prosecution is willing to present evidence — exhibits A through Z, to be exact — to prove that they should be.

“No,” a soft, contrite, feminine voice says over the line. A young voice.
