    "Shufu! No! Please don't!". Wangji seemed to finally break his silence to utter those hoars, urgent words.

    "I will take his place." Lan Qiren stated firmly, promptly ignoring his nephew.

    “Fine, I shall allow it. Bind him.” As soon as the command is given soldiers swarm all around Qiren, forcing him to his knees and chaining his wrists behind his back. Somewhere in the background Wangjis haunted cries can be heard, bur Qiren willfully ignores them. He jolts in surprise as a metal collar clasp shut around his neck. Horror crawls through him when he cannot transfer his Qi through his body, only just realizing that his cultivation must be sealed. Exhaustion crashes over him now that he can no longer take power from his golden core. He would’ve surely met the ground face first if it weren’t for the steady hands on his shoulders. He looks up weakly, and Wen Xu barks a laugh. Lan Qirens eyes widen as he sees his precious Wangji in a very similar predicament to his own.
    “Why? You said…” He rasps out weakly. Wen Xu grins sadistically, “I didn’t say anything Lan Qiren, it was you who assumed.”

    Jiang Cheng looked at the door where shadows were approaching. Without warning, he slapped Lan Xichen across the face, the sound echoing sharply in the room.

    At that exact moment, Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, and several junior disciples entered the room. "Xiongzhang!" Lan Wangji's voice was filled with alarm as his eyes took in the scene. Wei Wuxian's eyes widened in shock at the sight of Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen.

    Lan Wangji immediately stepped forward, pushing Jiang Cheng back and unsheathing Bichen with a swift, fluid motion. The blade glinted menacingly in the dim light.

    "Wangji—" Lan Xichen began, his voice weak and broken, but Jiang Cheng cut him off harshly.

    "Don't you dare say anything, Xichen! You don't have the right to do that!" Jiang Cheng's voice was a mix of fury and pain, and Lan Xichen recoiled as if struck again, his spirit crushed.

    "Jiang Cheng, stop! Get out of here!" Wei Wuxian yelled.
