“Someone wants to report a crime,” Gina called out. “They asked specifically for Jake.”
“Who asked for me?” Jake said.
“Me. I asked for you,” came a voice so very familiar. Jake and Rosa spun in their chairs to see Charles standing at the back of the room. “I’m here to report a crime.”
“Ummmm, you’re reporting a crime?” Jake said.
“Yes,” said Charles, and he nodded to emphasize his point. “Someone is trying to kill me.”
Jake frowned. Huh. He hadn’t expected that.
Rosa was frowning too. “That seems unlikely,” she said.
“Well, that’s just rude!” Charles gasped. “I’ll have you know I’m a very killable person!”
