Tonight would be another first. It was Christmas Eve and he was on his way to spend it with his boyfriend. Before Magnus, Alec never really had reason to celebrate any of the Mundane holidays, Shadowhunters not being big on celebrations in general. But now that he was with Magnus, now that he was experiencing so many new things, reached so many new highs and milestones in their relationship, he gladly wanted to indulge his boyfriend’s penchant of partaking in Mundane traditions and festivities.

It took a tremendous effort - too much of an effort really - for Magnus to sit up and glance over the couch. Magnus absolutely hated feeling so pathetically sluggish and unsteady. In his long life he had only contracted the flu once before, but he didn’t remember feeling this poorly at the time.

In the four centuries that Magnus had been alive, he had heard and read the stories of mythical bonds between a Warlock and their soul’s fated mate; who more often than not was another Warlock. A Warlock and a Nephilim however, Magnus was fairly certain that had never happened before, there were no records of such a bond having ever existed.
