At first he is not made to feel welcome and is stuck on the night shift, but in time he wins over his new co-workers through his winsome charm, diligence, integrity and success at solving crimes. Romance also enters his life in the form of Claire Maxwell, a solicitor with the Crown Prosecution Service who work closely with the local police.
This story is based on a wonderful, though not very well-known, show that ran for two series but was unexpectedly discontinued. I needed a happy ending to round it all off.
