Shane raised his eyebrows at him. “What do you want?”
Ilya’s smile grew inexplicably wider. “The question is, moya lyubov,” he raised his other arm so that both of Shane’s shoulders now rested beneath his hands, “what do you want?”
Shane rolled his eyes. “Ugh, you’re infuriating. I don’t want anything, it was just a question.”
Ilya waited patiently, eyes still locked on Shane’s.
Shane threw both his hands up in the air and dropped them heavily. “Fucking, fine, you weirdo,” he sighed. “I’ve never smoked before and I was just curious how it feels. That’s all.”
“Yes,” Ilya nodded, because he could read Shane way too well and obviously had gathered all of that already. His menacing smile wavered for a second, his eyes softening. “And you want me to tell you or…?”

“We don’t want fans panicking every time you’re at each other’s throats,” Harris continued, “because they don’t realize that’s actually how you two show affection. We already lived through that misunderstanding once.”
He walked over to the camera. “So we thought it might be fun to do a quick little video. I’ll ask some easy questions, you guys respond however you like. It should be playful and light but it’s fine if you guys can’t help teasing each other a little. Be yourselves. Everyone already knows about you as individuals but what people haven’t seen yet is how you are as a couple.”
Shane scrunched his nose in distaste.
“We can keep it to on-ice questions,” Harris offered quickly.
“That’s fine,” Ilya said.
Harris took a seat behind the camera and checked the framing one more time. “Alright. Ready?”

“They want you two for a new ad campaign,” she continued, eyes sparkling. “A twelve-year retrospective referencing the one you shot together the summer before your rookie year.”
