Summary
The itching under his skin hummed in a slightly off tune. When Buck was outside the Diaz door, he could physically feel Eddie’s happiness, without seeing him. Here, on the porch, he could feel that Eddie’s happiness was at about… 78%. High, honestly. Through the closed door, he could hear music playing softly and Chris yelling at a video game in his room.
When he opened the door and stepped in, he headed toward the kitchen where Eddie was, predictably, washing dishes with his phone in his pocket, playing a Christmas album in Spanish. When Eddie turned to look at him, a smile on his face, his happiness went up to a 98.4%.
Buck stumbled into a kitchen chair, nearly folding in half over it, huffing out a loud oof.
Eddie’s eyes went wide and he turned off the faucet, rushing over. “What the hell, man? You just totally-”
“Lost in my head,” Buck mumbled, cheeks ablaze as he righted the chair and himself. “Just knocked the wind out of myself, ignore me.”
or
As a child, Buck developed the ability to grant Christmas wishes. He finds this year a bit harder when Christopher makes a very particular wish; Eddie's complete happiness.

Summary
“Yeah. Craziest thing. My kid comes home a few weeks ago with a birthmark on his eyebrow. Looks suspiciously like a smudge of paint, but he assures me it’s a birthmark.”
“Ah,” Buck cringes. "Mr Diaz - -"
"Eddie."
Or, if you ask Christopher, that smudge on his eyebrow is a birthmark. If you ask Eddie, his kid won't stop painting on his face and he has no idea why.

Summary
After a while, he whispers it, barely louder than the rustle of his sheets.
A wish, a prayer, maybe it’s a plea.
“I want to know everything.”
It spills out of him in the stillness that follows, not loud, not dramatic, just the quiet truth of it.
“I wish you’d let me know you. I wish you trusted me with the parts you never show. The fears you don’t name. The secrets you keep buried so deep even you don’t look at them for long.
I wish I’d known you before life made you flinch. Before war and heartbreak, before your smile got quieter. I wish I’d seen the kid you were, so I could understand how you became the man I’m—
Buck pauses, the words catching in his throat.
—the man I’ve fallen in love with, without a shred of logic or timing or self-preservation.
I wish you’d let me know you.”
Or; Buck makes a wish and it comes true. So he spends the following twenty four hours with Eddie aging up three years every time he falls asleep.

Summary
“Someone referred to me as your wife the other day.” Buck started.
Eddie choked on air. His cheeks were so pink. Why did he blush like that? Buck was paler than him, and yet somehow he didn’t blush anywhere near as hard as Eddie himself did.
“Do you think of me as your old ball and chain?” Eddie asked, going along with the joke despite the frankly upsetting colour of his cheeks. How was this Buck looking in love with him? Obviously they were comfortable with each other, but still.
Buck gasped, his eyes big, his back straightening out as he got ready to fight with God himself on this topic. Eddie knew immediately the rant he had started, Buck’s mockingly serious voice raising as he stared Eddie down intently.
“I would never refer to my wife as the old ball and chain. You don’t hold me down, you pick me up, you dirty little bitch. You’re the wind beneath my wings. God.”
