“Shu? You’re still awake?” Vox calls out to him one night when the sorcerer sits out in the veranda in the company of the stars.
It’s the middle of the night, and Shu knows none of them should be awake at this time. He hums anyway, turning his head to look at the demon. “What’s up?”
“You’ll catch a cold like that.”
“Nah,” Shu smiles, “I’ll be fine.”
In which Shu gets flashbacks of fire and convinces himself that he's alright. He's not. (Maybe he will be.)
