Summary
Alex sighs as he rolls over, grabbing Henry's pillow and pulling it against his chest.
It's early, the sky still inky blue outside the windows, moonlight falling across the floor.
On the other side of the room, Henry stands in front of one of his easels, mug cupped in his hands and baggy jeans hanging off his hips. His head is tipped to the side as he assesses the work he put in the day before, and Alex can tell by the tense line of his shoulders that he's not happy. He'll spend the whole day circling and poking at it, biting his nails down to the quick as he tries to decide what he needs to change.

“Are you sure you’re going to be okay here?”
Henry lowers his mug and watches as Alex overfills his thermos. He’s had two cups already, and the odds of him having more at the office are high.
“Here?” Henry asks as he tosses Alex a dishcloth to mop up the coffee. “In our home?”
“In this house…all the way out here…alone.”
“I’m not a child, Alex,” Henry says, affronted. “I don’t require a babysitter.”
“I know that,” Alex says, “I know that. It’s just…you grew up in a palace. You had people everywhere. Now you’re just…alone out here.”
“I can assure you that when I was growing up, I was alone, plenty.”
Alex groans. “Oh god, please don’t say that. That makes me so sad.”
Or.
5 times Henry works to make their house a home +1 time Alex realizes it's been home all along.

Summary
Eddie lifted his glass, bringing it to his lips, but just as he was about to take a sip, his gaze shifted, and he saw Tommy reach for Buck’s hand, their fingers intertwining. Water sprayed from Eddie’s nose and down his chin as a violent cough erupted from his throat.
He slammed his glass onto the table, sitting upright as he coughed into his hand. His eyes watered, but he couldn’t tear them away from the scene before him.
He hadn’t imagined it.
They were holding hands.
OR:

Summary
He can’t remember exactly how old he was when Halley’s Comet blazed through the sky, but he was old enough to at least understand that what he saw was, for most people, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He remembers the blinding missile-like blur of pure light that streaked across the inky black sky, the feathery trails of starlight that followed along behind her as she tore through the galaxy, the way she flickered and winked as she disappeared beyond the horizon.
And he remembers his mother telling him, in a voice he recognized even then to be warbling with reverence and emotion, how lucky he is to be among those lucky few who will get to witness Halley’s blazing trail twice in one lifetime.

Summary
Amy Santiago detests pep rallies.
It’s probably among the most boring, bookworm-esque things about her - which is really saying something, considering she spends most Friday nights catching up on recorded episodes of Wheel of Fortune when not competing in her highly competitive literature-based trivia league at O’Hannigan’s - but really, truly, she hates them. Hates the uncomfortable chill of the large gym (to accommodate for the 500 students packed into the stands, or so Principal Holt says), the crackling speaker blown out from years of student emcees screaming into the microphones, hates the way the marching band’s sound glances off the wall opposite where they sit in the stands, echoing back harshly to create an off-beat dissonance guaranteed to have a headache unfurling in her temples in a matter of seconds.
But most of all - more than anything - she hates the annual teacher relay race.
in which amy complains, jake competes, and charles and rosa scheme
