After a few moments, the blond speaks again, his voice lighter this time. “Maybe we should do something different.”
“What do you mean?”
Max leans back, a small grin playing on his lips. “I rented a chalet in Austria. Just me, some peace and quiet, maybe some skiing if I feel like it. No family, no expectations. You should come.”
Charles’s eyes widen. “With you?”
“Why not? It’s not like I planned for company, but I think it could be fun. Better than staying cooped up in Monaco.”
Charles’s gaze drops to his coffee, his fingers tracing the edge of the cup as he considers. There’s a flicker of something in his expression—doubt, perhaps, but also a hint of hope. “Maybe it’s not such a bad idea,” he says finally, his voice tentative.
OR: Max decides to avoid the annual Christmas obligations and rents a cabin in Austria. He spontaneously asks Charles to join him.

This is the story of what happens after, Max's journey to keep his little brother and littlest sister safe and happy. Charles and his family just... don't stop being around. Set in 2022, starting in Austin, two weeks after Max was named World Champion for a second time. (Story ended at Chapter 24, but some bonus chapters are posted occasionally.)
