Fortunately, Ava takes that moment to disengage from the silver-haired man and approach Bucky’s position. She turns off her comms, positions herself right beside him, and says, “There. Extremely boring mingling done.”
She was baiting him. Bucky knows it. Yet it didn’t stop him from replying, “Didn’t look like you were bored with him from where I’m standing.”
Ava turns to him and boasts, over the rim of her glass, “That’s because I’m fucking great at recon.”
“Recon my ass.”
She laughs. “Language, Sergeant. Anyway, I don’t know what you’re so pissy about. I’m merely doing what Yelena taught me, and, well, if I so happen to enjoy Rutger’s extremely well-defined arms and very big, very manly hands in the process, well. That’s just between dear Rutger and me, isn’t it?”
Bucky glares at her audacity for a few seconds, leans closer, and says, “Careful. Keep talking like that, and you’re going to get yourself in a lot of trouble.”
“Jealous, Mr. Barnes?”
“Furious, Mrs. Barnes.”

This document is the culmination of years (fine, three weeks) of close observation, field notes, and involuntary participation in James Buchanan Barnes’ Rude Acts of Heroic Manhandling as well as his chronic suffering of Ava-Related Softness Syndrome (ARSS). It is funded by emotional damage, powered by spite, and formatted with unbelievable degrees of pettiness.
This paper aims to shed light on the wildly uneven distribution of his physical and emotional chaos when it comes to the government-recognized members of the New Avengers. And Bob. But mostly those in active duty, namely us.
What you are about to see is 100% accurate, unbiased, and peer-reviewed. You may interpret “peer-reviewed” loosely since said peers are mostly contributors to this document. Who may or may not have also chosen to write and/or contribute to this instead of doing twenty official reports.
