Summary
Everything is where it was; books tilted to the side, bell perched in the same spot, familiar misaligned floorboards. It was covered with dust, untouched and unloved. Maybe it’s more uncared for than unloved. If Techno wasn’t there to love the way a chest wasn’t aligned with the others, he would.

Summary
Shaky breaths and repeating “okay’s” beside him, he felt Tommy take his helmet, holding it close to his heart. He heard him tap sporadically against the metal collar, up to the tip of the glass. Tubbo didn’t let his fear show.
Lifting his head, he took a deep breath, blindly grabbing his best friend by his hand. He squeezed it once, twice, three times. He waited patiently until he felt the same pressure. They were as ready as they’ll ever be. Taking a shaky step towards the rocket, Tubbo bit his lip. He needed to be brave, for both of them. They were finally escaping. They were finally going to be okay. They were finally going to be free. With a final look at his best friend, he smiled once more, all the way up to his eyes.

Summary
“I’m here now,” Tubbo tried, his voice cracking with defeat.
It haunts him, knowing that he wasn’t there for Tommy when he died. It haunts him seeing a hollowed out form of his best friend, knowing he’s probably the same image to Tommy. Their shaggy hair, bright eyes sunken and dulled, a constant reminder of what they’ve endured.
“Don’t leave me.”
Tommy’s words were muffled, barely audible through the thick amount of hair covering his mouth, but Tubbo heard him. Loud and clear. He shifted until he was eye level with his best friend, resting his freezing palms onto the younger’s face, smiling as Tommy scrunched his nose to the sensation.
“I’m not going anywhere, bossman.”
“Promise?”

Summary
Tilting her head up slightly, Sophie squinted at the horizon. She saw something. Something large and tall, but not necessarily real. Knowing her luck, it would be a mirage, her mind finally diving into the madness of the desert. Sighing, she forced her feet to pick up, one after another. Sunburns were littering every exposed piece of her skin, her hair keeping her hotter than she’d like, but her determination persisted. This possible mirage was giving her hope, like her whole journey was worth something, like she was worth something. She was going to reach this mirage or she would die trying.
With a burst of adrenaline, Sophie started jogging, her feet pounding against the floor, her lungs burning. The jog gradually turned into a sprint, her arms reaching out like she could touch the horizon, like she could hold the world in her arms and be okay. She was going to be okay.
Her vision was blurring, her eyes unfocusing, the adrenaline slowly wearing off. Her body felt heavy, weighed down and achy, too tired to keep going even if she pushed it. She blinked, desperate to clear her vision, a group of buildings steadily forming the more she blinked. She smiled, bringing her legs to a stop, before dropping to the floor.
