“If you’re not high, then what’s going on with you?”
Megumi bites his bottom lip and stares at Gojō’s shoulder so he can only see his expression in his periphery, thinking idly that this would all be so much easier if he could explain it. Or, rather, explain why it’s happening. “I think I have insomnia,” is what he ends up on.
Gojō cocks his head, the same way Itadori does, and it’s so startling a comparison he almost laughs. God, he needs to get it the fuck together. They’d really think something was wrong if he started to laugh for no goddamn reason.
alternatively: dude, not everything is curses, sometimes you just have normal human problems (and sometimes the "normal human problems" are caused by curses. go figure.)

Summary
"'But it’ll be so lonely without you, Fushiguro.'
Those words should have resonated within Megumi. But then, he remembered that boy in June. The boy he met, who had no idea what Jujutsu was. How dumb, naive, and hopeful that boy was before the Juvenile Detention Center. Before Shibuya. Before... this. All because of Megumi.
There was no way Itadori would be lonely if Megumi were gone. He’d be happier, enjoying a simpler life where he didn’t have to worry which day would be his last.
He’d be happier if they had never met."
-----Or,
In Shinjuku, Megumi decides he's had enough. But instead of leaving as he intended, he finds himself in a world where he does not exist, and the consequences that follow.

Summary
When something's in your grasp, just close enough to touch, but never hold, you’d reach out right? When something is achievable, you’d take the risk?
The obvious choice would be to go for it, to pursue whatever it is. For Megumi Fushiguro, this was not as easy as it seemed.
Life seemed to want to spit him up and chew him out, never give him the easy way to anything.
And now here he was, in the last two weeks of senior year, rotting away in detention. And for how badly Megumi had dreamed, hoped, studied for the chance to graduate, all he wanted to do in this moment was run away and disappear. Live in the depths of the shadows where he wouldn't have to end up talking to, or seeing anyone ever again.
What he had done hadn’t even been that bad if it weren't for his already strenuous record from middle school. All he had done was put a nasty bully in his place, which was apparently the intensive care unit in Tokyo General Hospital.
OR: Megumi is stuck in detention for the last two weeks of his senior year and is forced to sit next to a very talkative Itadori.

He lets them. Then Itadori Yuji transfers into his class.
And for the first time in his life… Megumi sees someone clearly. Just one person. And maybe that’s the problem.
Because even when the world finally comes into focus…he realizes he doesn’t want to see anyone else.
