Summary
A long drag on the cigarette fills his lungs with smoke. He blows out a large puff that ends in a pathetic coughing fit. Gavin dislikes smoking, he once said, it’s a way of coping. The spots where his nails dig into skin each time his hand clenches, turn a little paler. The swollen and red eyes are clear evidence but a scan reveals traces of water and salt on Gavin's cheeks. He left his jacket inside, a poor choice given that winter lurks around the corner. His temperature is below average.
Gavin is a mess in its truest definition. And Nines has never seen him cry.

Summary
People didn’t like Gavin Reed. Gavin Reed didn’t like people. It went together like gin and tonic, you can’t have one without the other. Fate decided that Nines hated him and he hated Nines and so they kept playing their game by these set rules, never questioning the absurdity.
Maybe it was a coincidence that six months into their partnership, Gavin distinctly remembered rules are meant to be broken. It turned Gavin into pretending to dislike Nines. On the flip side, it turned Nines into a dense idiot with a crush, unable to grasp the concept of love. Both in utter denial.
Gravity works against them, draws them closer at a frightening pace. The android appears less opposed to it. How long will it take Gavin to realize he has to pull the door and stop pushing it like an imbecile?

a social or romantic appointment or engagement.AUTOCORRECT: FOLDER [IMBECILE] HAS BEEN RENAMED TO [GAVIN REED]
Some circumstances remain an everlasting conundrum to RK900. The folders he created for these oddities hold many files, a collection of equations he will never find solutions for. They mock him, unimpressed by his greatest efforts. They degrade his reputation of cumulative and unparalleled competence stored in a single detective unit.

Summary
“Gavin!”
The firm voice yanked Gavin out of his episode of reminiscence.
“Woah there, don’t you see I’m busy?!” Gavin snapped. He tapped the button on his phone to turn the screen off, hiding the screensaver picture he had been absentmindedly staring at for God knows how long. The complacent grin adorning the Nines' face told him he saw what kept him occupied.
“You’ve been gaping at your phone for at least three minutes and forty-five seconds. This is only counting in the time once I’ve entered the bullpen and noticed you were... busy," Nines said, tilted his head and continued much quieter, "May I inform you that you're not only allowed to, but encouraged to stare at the living entity instead?”

Summary
Looking at statistics only, Gavin Reed and Nines made an excellent team: without a single case unsolved since they've started working together three months ago, everything appeared great. But it only scratched the very surface of their relationship.
Looking at their dynamics, it became obvious how much room for growth both still had: getting along with the robocop Gavin was crushing on while feeling unable to stop the asshole-front constantly proved to be a serious issue. And Nines acting as the punching bag of said asshole didn't help. Turned out that expressing emotions properly was pretty damn difficult.

Summary
[Human!Nines & Android!Gavin daily adventures - two idiots forever in denial]
Gavin was broken - Nines despised the word but Gavin used it ever so often, he caught himself using it as well. For the android deviancy had not only been a blessing but also a curse - at least, that's how Gavin constantly described it.
The android had been forced into deviancy and going from feeling nothing at all to everything at once took a toll on him. Combined with a foul temper, emotions turned out an overwhelming force, that caused many of his functions to fail, whenever his emotions got too strong. Gavin once compared it to overheating just... without the actual heat.

Summary
Gavin and Nines are assigned a stupid case in some stupid mountain town in the stupid snow where they have to take some stupid gondola up to the top of the stupid mountain. Sounds like just Gavin's idea of fun.
Except when the lift suddenly stops and leaves them stranded in the cold, Gavin starts to realize he should have dressed warmer. Luckily, Nines is there to help.
Aka: the boys get stuck in a gondola, Gavin is a grumpy idiot, and Nines just wants to keep his idiot detective warm.

Summary
"But Gavin’s still at page one, trying to work out his worst fears being confirmed and how it leaves a churning queasiness swirling in his stomach. He clenches his hands into fists so tightly the knuckles strain white, physically trying to abate his nausea. He is beyond lost by this profound and frankly disturbing information, and dares to glance at the machine. It’s everything wrong with the world. It’s perfect, and it makes Gavin want to vomit."
After the android revolution, the fates of humans and androids hang in the balance. CyberLife's manufacturing lines have halted, and androids haven't been declared sentient beings. Until it is decided what is to be done, Detroit waits with bated breath, and Detective Gavin Reed is partnered to the sole RK900 built before the end of production to aid in the department's investigations.

“So you’re telling me that all this time, you’ve never had your pleasure sensors on? Not once?”
RK can feel his face pulling into a smile, one that a human would probably describe as smug. He hopes Reed can see it in the dark.
