Summary
When Lucas Bouchard returns to Hope Valley after being elected Governor of Alberta, he hopes to find friendship and support waiting for him but only is met by lies and betrayal. Upset and bitter, Lucas allows anger to consume him, drowning himself in work and swearing off love entirely.
Enter Samantha “Sam” Hamilton, a gorgeous nurse who has been thrust back into Lucas’s life and just happens to share a complicated history with him. Will her sudden arrival help Lucas fight the demons of his past and make him believe in love once again, or will hatred and doubt destroy their relationship and doom Lucas to a life shrouded in isolating darkness?

Midnight is based on the TV show WCTH and takes place after Lucas wins the election in S10. It is a “sister” fic to Daylight (see series) and operates as almost an AU to that story. It also uses the same characters as Daylight and is primarily rated PG throughout, though, at times, it will bump up to a T rating due to some heated romance.
PSA: I do not write smut.
I will provide the chapter rating as well as any trigger warnings in a note at the start of each chapter.

Summary
This fanfic starts at the end of WCTH 10x11 and continues the story of Lucas Bouchard. Elizabeth Thornton has just ended her engagement with Lucas, a few weeks before their wedding. Heartbroken and alone, Lucas leaves for Capital City to run for Governor of Alberta to save Hope Valley and the surrounding towns from the current governor’s plans to steal their water supplies. And while he does his best to stay focused on the task at hand, Lucas finds himself dealing with problems and hardships that threaten to plunge him further into the isolation that has robbed him of his hope. However, when the beautiful Samantha Hamilton unexpectedly re-enters his life, knocking down his walls and flooding his darkness with light, he realizes that the greatest challenge he will face may not be governing the province, but, instead, opening his heart to love once again.
**This fic oscillates between G and T. It does contain some violence and heated kissing, but nothing too explicit. I don’t write smut. I’ll try to put warnings at the beginning of chapters that contain T elements.
