Summary
A identidade fragmentada de Reiner Braun nem sempre pairou em duas dicotomias. Entre guerreiro ou soldado, havia uma terceira opção, a qual ele nunca pudera ser: ele mesmo.
Ele olhava para a palma da mão que falhara em salvá-la e visualizava sua linha da vida contínua, enorme, enquanto a linha do coração, tão curta, mas ainda paralela à primeira, escrevera seu destino danoso.
E tudo o que Reiner desejava, no final de tudo, era morrer.
Ele tentou, várias vezes, mas não conseguia. Ele não sabia se a veria novamente, mas queria que toda aquela dor acabasse. Aquelas guerras sem sentido, aquela identidade de guerreiro, aquela culpa pesada demais para carregar. Aquelas pessoas que o repudiavam por ser eldiano. Aqueles olhares. Nenhum gentil como ela. Nenhum que o entendesse e o enxergasse como nada além do quebrado, saudoso e apático Reiner Braun. Ou a casca do que ele fora um dia.[Spoilers do mangá de Shingeki no Kyojin]

"I don't want you." You could mutter.
He tilted his head and asked even though he knew the answer. "Why does your heartbeat go faster when I get close? Why do you run away from me if you don't want me?" You didn't answer. You were lying, and he knew it.
He continued. "You're all I want. I can talk to her now if you say yes."
"I can't. My friend is very dear to me."
