Max 22:17
Are you hard?He hesitates a moment with his thumb over the lock-button on his phone. Max’s last text is the only thing he can see, so bright and insistent that it feels like it burns at Charles’ corneas. He can’t really explain to himself why he’s hesitating, but some part of him wants to see how far Max is willing to take this. It is the same part of him that didn’t understand breaking when he first started karting, only speed. The same part of him that has always found it almost impossible to back down from a challenge if it comes to Max, that has always wanted to push him back, that has made him never want to be the first one on the breaks when they battle on track.
Charles is typing before he can decide if it’s a bad idea or not, heart so far up his throat that it feels like bile.

Summary
A few hours before Oscar was announced to be driving with McLaren in 2023, Lando remembered being pulled into Zak’s office for a chat.
Lando had guessed that his new teammate would be the topic of conversation, more specifically who it was, but Lando had not expected the shovel talk (of sorts) that came with that discussion.
“Watch out for Oscar, alright? He’s a good one. He’s getting a lot of shit from Otmar for signing with us, and I don’t want him to have a harder time than necessary.” The McLaren CEO gave Lando a serious look. “We present a united front. Oscar’s going to be with us for 2023, and I will not tolerate any shit towards him from Alpine- and neither should you.”
The Brit’s knee-jerk reaction was to scoff a bit. “He’s a grown-up, he can handle himself.”
Or alternatively; When Lando had gotten a new teammate, he had been prepared to fully send anyone who decided to fuck with Oscar Piastri straight into turn 1. What Lando had not been prepared for, in any shape or form, was for his new teammate to give 0 shits whatsoever.

A mystery man who, or so the rumors say, has apparently been spotted wearing a simple Halloween costume. The question still stands, though, if he and a gang of ragtag accomplices can solve the gruesome case at hand before one of them... or all of them, end up on the news.
