Summary
Every so often, Caitlyn’s gaze flicked between the sketch and Vi’s face, marvelling at how the woman she loved could look so vulnerable and unguarded. This was a side of Vi only she was privileged to see, and Caitlyn treasured it deeply.
The sound of a faint sigh made her pause. She looked up to see Vi shifting slightly, her brows furrowing in her sleep. Caitlyn held her breath, afraid she’d been caught in her quiet observation. But Vi merely mumbled something unintelligible and sank deeper into the pillows.

Summary
Caitlyn corrects her stance; maybe if she stands more firmly, the control can be regained.
“Don’t be ridiculous, Vi” she starts in hopes that her moment of weakness has not been as noticeable as it was percepted. “There is blood still dripping from the wound that would be fatal, if I hadn't stepped in.”
Her reasoning doesn’t work; the shorter woman snorts out a laugh.
“My hero” Vi mocks, reminding them both of times long lost, when those words meant something so much different. „It’s her blood in my veins, remember? Since when are you so worried about spilling it?”

Among all the chaos unleashed in her life, in some desperate need to know, Caitlyn still keeps an eye on Vi. And as she starts doubting her own decisions, she finds out that her ex-partner’s life is in danger.Eventually they find a way back to each other; before all that went between them, Caitlyn had not once thought that she and Vi might ever stand on the opposite sides.
And yet, it has been more than a year and here they are; divided by everything that once used to bring them close.
