It was safe to say he hadn’t been lying when he told the Miyagi-Fangs karate hadn’t been his first hobby. Funnily enough, breaking and entering, or even stealing, hadn’t been either.
It’d been floriography that had done the trick for him. Looking at them, collecting them, making bouquets and assigning them meaning; yeah, the times he could just do that the whole summer without any external interruptions had definitely been a few of the best moments in his life.
Because flowers were something constant. Most of their meanings came from ancient civilizations and their beliefs or scientist and artists that had lived centuries before Robby, which meant it was hard for people to change them, and the blooms themselves had intricate ways of being cared for that, If changed, could mean their deaths. Even when they did die, he at least knew it was coming by the way they would dwindle.
If Robby couldn’t trust anything else in his life to be consistent and perpetual – not his dad, not his mom, not even his own friends –, at least the flowers he adored so much were the one exception.
That was, until he found Tory.

“That makes two of us, then.” He sighed against his cellphone.
“Why? Not enjoying the father-son trip?” She asked, something akin to sadness lacing her tone of voice. If she wasn’t able to feel happy right now, she’d been hoping at least he would.
Apparently though, the universe was really against them both.
“Not much. Things are just rough because, you know, it’s me and my dad. But don’t worry, it should get better soon.” Robby didn’t know If he was trying to convince her or himself as he said that. “And If it doesn’t, I’ll just go back home earlier.”
“Well, either way, I’ll be here for you when you come back.”

The last time Robby had heard such sweet words directed towards him, they hadn’t been all truthful and he'd gotten hurt because of them, making it almost impossible for him to believe people who said anything similar to him. But hearing Tory say those things and look so goddamn happy as she told him he was the one she wanted to do all of that with, well...
He didn’t have a single doubt she was being nothing but honest.
“I’m glad to hear that, because there’s nowhere else I’d rather be than with you.”

An AU in which Tory and Robby didn't get to talk immediately after Silver was arrested and things go a bit different than expected. A few bumps appear on the road but all's well when ends well.

An wonderfully written fanfic that made me wish it was a series, not just a oneshot, because holy shit, it's so fucking good. Also, the dynamic between Eddie and Steve at the Halloween party compared to their dynamic at school is really interesting.
