Summary
Harrow drifted into view above her, with a small smile that betrayed immense joy, and Gideon both blessed and cursed her lucky stars. Goddammit. She was never telling her sadistic girlfriend about another kink ever again.
“Now,” said Harrow, and selected the correct key from her key ring. Just at the clink of metal, Gideon felt herself grow even wetter. “Let’s see what we’re dealing with.”

Summary
“I’ve been -” Caitlyn focuses on the gentle brush of Vi’s thumb over the numbed tissue. “Having this dream. It’s the same dream. Every night.”
She sees the shadows shift on Vi’s face - a sharp clench of her jaw. Her brows are furrowed, making her eyes heavy and dark.
“About what?” she presses when Caitlyn lets the silence extend for too long.
“I…” She doesn’t want to say this in front of Vi for a multitude of reasons. But her comfort is the main one. She imagines being told the same in reverse and it makes her feel sick.
“I dream I’m with… her.”
OR
Caitlyn deals poorly with the visceral emotional fallout of Maddie's betrayal.

Summary
It was quiet out. No soldiers running through the streets, no doors opening and closing in the Kiramman household, no hushed, passionate conversations happening beyond the doors to Caitlyn’s room. Just the soft, steady sound of Caitlyn breathing next to Vi. As usual, Vi was awake long past midnight, her heart thumping in her chest and guilt sitting like a bomb in her stomach. It had been days since she’d helped Caitlyn home after the explosion at the council building, days more since the funeral, days since she’d dressed in a plain black shirt and slacks that cost more than anything she’d ever owned in her life and watched Caitlyn and her father grieve by her mother’s graveside. The weight of her guilt didn’t seem to be easing at all. Every time Vi thought she had a handle on it, Caitlyn would reach for her hand or lean her head against her shoulder and she’d be right back where she started, steeped in guilt and self-hatred.
--
Vi struggles with the responsibility and guilt of her actions. A deep depression ensues.
