The three Kings rise to their feet, their chiselled features set in deep rage as they loom over her, peering into the depths of her very soul.
“No one?” King Caius growls, fury in his eyes
He grips the back of her neck and tugs her close, his thumb tracing her nape in a proprietary gesture.
“You are our fate,” he declares
Elena gasps at his words, tries to step back but King Marcus catches her wrist, entwining their fingers and raising her hand to kiss each of her knuckles.
“You are our soul,” he continues “The very essence of our being.”
She shakes her head, can feel the weight of their words, the sheer magnitude of their being, beginning to press down upon her.
King Aro cups her cheeks in his large palms
“You are our greatest desire, the blessing we've desperately begged for on our knees for thousands of years,” he growls against her forehead.”You are ours, Elena Winters. Our Queen. Our mate.”

As much as she wished she could control it, even at 18 she couldn’t stop the way the tears would build up whenever she was stressed, or scared, or just plain upset. She also couldn’t help the fact that once everyone found out what was going on behind closed doors at her birth father’s house, everyone took it upon theirselves to try to play “savior.”
So, yes, Isla Fawn Sommers was the resident town pity project and apparent crybaby.
Despite the fact that she tried her hardest to be normal, she never felt truly whole, never felt truly safe. Not until she met one Mikaelson—and certainly not until she met the rest of them.
Getting kidnapped may have sucked, but she wouldn’t change it for the world. Not when she had met one of her soulmates because of it, not when she had met all of them.
