“How do you expect me to cooperate when you haven’t told me what you want to know?” Light said, fighting to control his voice, keep it steady and low.
The man snorted. “Like you don’t know.”
“I’d like to be sure.”
Light heard footsteps, followed by a scrape of metal and the sound of a body dropping into a chair. The man had sat beside him.
“Well, let’s see,” his kidnapper said, slinging an arm over his shoulders. “You work on the Kira case. I’m a criminal. You used to know L. I also have… an interest in that area. You see, two plus two? So let’s start with the case, and we’ll move onto L.”
Light was grinding his teeth at the invasion of his personal space, but stopped in shock at the mention of the detective. “You knew L?”
The hand on his shoulder moved up and twisted his earlobe sharply, nails digging in through the layer of leather. “Don’t make assumptions,” the voice sing-songed.
“Fuck you!” Light snarled, burning with humiliation.
“Now there’s a thought,” the voice purred.
And with that, Light resolved to make this as difficult as possible for whatever bastard it was that did this to him.
