Summary
For the moment, Kaveh denies Alhaitham any evidence of the pleasure he is inflicting. He does not make sweet noises, does not chase after the butterfly touches — too prideful to outright ask to be pulled apart, but desperate enough to allow it to happen to him. After all, he had been the one to take a deep, steadying breath before guiding his bodyguard’s hand to the clasp of his outer robe, to say without words: If I am reading us right, do as you will. Please.
By the end, Alhaitham thinks himself a house of cards that does not collapse – instead, one that has found the rare fate of being deconstructed with care.

"Awfully forward of you. I usually don't put out until the third date." Kaveh rolls his eyes, feeling a flicker of pride for not flinching at the sharp look the other man gives him. "Jokes, Alhaitham. Might do you good to learn about them."
Alhaitham frowns. "Are you always so difficult?"
A peal of laughter escapes Kaveh. Difficult, as if he's a misbehaving dog and not an entire human struck into a tailspin.
"I'm making an exception for you."
Kaveh never expected to be dragged into the world of Sumeru's dark underbelly. And what he expected even less was to look down the barrel of his savior's gun to see Alhaitham, his childhood friend, the boy from his memories long lost to the cold man now before him.
