"Valeriy." His voice is breathless. His eyes narrow skeptically. "What are you doing?" He asks with a bemused chuckle.
Valeriy doesn't seem concerned in the slightest. He leans in, speaking right against Mitya's lips. "Making sure you don't run away again."
It's spoken resolutely, as if all this is just a necessary course of action to put Mitya in his place.
Mitya sneaks out again, and Valeriy teaches him a lesson.

It’s almost too loud when he says, sudden, “It’s a pity we didn’t see any bears on the way up here.”
Valeriy stirs from where he is seated, stoic before the heat of the Kresnik. “You wanted to see a bear?”
“I wanted to see how they look compared to you. You’re about the size of a bear.” He folds his arms, tilts his head in a curiosity that’s not quite academic. “Have you ever fought a bear, Sarge?”
He blinks, just once. It does nothing to lighten the heaviness of that purple gaze. “Why would I fight a bear, Mr. Mitya?”
“I don’t know. Practice? Do they make you fight bears in the Fatui for practice?”
“No. They do not.”
He fidgets. The scarf echoes the movement, just to make it all the more awkward. “Oh. Well. I didn’t know that, you see. Because I’m a scientist. Not a soldier.”
Valeriy doesn’t have anything to say to that. He’s just staring at him again. Mitya is really beginning to wish he hadn’t even tried to start a conversation with the man.
After the events of the Korolevskiy Theatre, Mitya decides to retreat to his dacha for some time off.
Of course, Valeriy is assigned to accompany him.

Childe chokes. Audibly.
“No! I mean—yes. But no. I mean—fuck, Zhongli, you can’t just say it like that!”
“I seek understanding.”
“You’re too good at it!”
Zhongli tilts his head. “Then… perhaps you might elaborate.”
“Are you—you—asking me to explain a kink to you over dessert?”
Or, Childe says “Daddy” once, and Zhongli makes it everyone’s problem.

Summary
Sometimes it seems to Mitya that the higher-ups are a bunch of perverts who have never heard of the concept of personal space. He is willing to put up with Valeriy keeping a sharp eye on him at work so he doesn’t fuck around with anything unrelated to the development and research of energy resources, and only letting him go during lunch break — but not with Valeriy watching him at home as well.
Mitya is trying to explain to Valeriy that calling him by his full name is completely unnecessary. Valeriy, unfortunately, is a bit dumb.
Also: Mitya tries to move Valeriy from the chair to the sofa, but for some reason, Valeriy ends up in his bed and is unlikely to leave. Not that Mitya would mind.
