She wanted to enamor the hearts of the people through melodic songs and fluid movements before slipping away into the night like a creature of folklore. She wanted to be close enough to grab but not enough to hold. She wanted proximity, not loneliness.
So, Metzli never went dancing alone."

Metzli needs to enjoy a night for herself in the midst of all the preparation. She decides to go salsa dancing, even if it means she has to go by herself and dance with strangers. It just so happens that Thane knows how to salsa dance, and decides to join her.
