Metzli needs to enjoy a night for herself in the midst of all the preparation. She decides to go salsa dancing, even if it means she has to go by herself and dance with strangers. It just so happens that Thane knows how to salsa dance, and decides to join her.

"Garrus Vakarian." She held up the straw wrapper, now hopefully large enough to fit around one of Garrus's huge fingers.
"That is, in fact, my name, Shepard. I'm glad you haven't suffered head trauma in addition to the knee injury." Despite the dry tone of his voice, there was something odd in his eyes—not the usual giddy, lunatic glee he got whenever he realized they were about to do something ridiculous together. Was he having second thoughts for once?
Oh well, no going back now. "Will you put on a terrible turian suit to match my terrible human dress uniform and do me the honor of accompanying me to a bullshit fundraising dinner?"
Garrus finally seemed to catch on—took him long enough—and let out a hoarse little laugh. "I get it now." He pressed the back of one hand to his forehead and pretended to swoon. "Oh, Commander! This is so sudden! I'm just not sure."
"Aw, Garrus, don't we always have a good time together?" She caught his free hand. She wasn't used to touching him outside of battle, with his fingers bare instead of covered in thick gauntlets. "This way we can actually sit together instead of having to try and mime ways to beg for death all night from across the room."

Summary
When the burden of leadership becomes too much to bear, Primarch Adrien Victus turns to his old friend Castis Vakarian for advice and comfort, stirring up old emotions of an adolescent crush. After the war, when victory has been declared but Victus has lost everything, the primarch invites his old battle buddy up to his office to talk.
This is a fic for people who like dialogue. It's slow, not much happens -- it's a couple of sad, tired old men finding comfort at the end of a long war.

Her affinity for aliens, and one renegade turian in particular, becomes a problem among human-centric politicians as humanity gains a foothold in the galaxy. As time and the fate of all organic life hangs in the balance, her entanglement with the drell who changed her life further complicates matters.
The story explores multiple motifs, including a deeper look at drell, a character study of Thane, a noir loss of innocence story for Garrus/Archangel, extended turian culture and history, and a close read of Liara's transformation into the Shadowbroker. Includes expanded lore, religion, and language within the Mass Effect Universe.
