Summary
He’s surprised that he’s even alive, that he’s still breathing, that these battered ol’ lungs still pump in his chest and this tired heart still beats. Each breath feels like a punch to his gut, pressing against his swollen, broken ribcage, but he is, nevertheless, still alive. And he bats his eyelids open the next day to prove it.
Sunlight washes over him. It almost feels like pity. He feels too warm―he feels like he doesn’t deserve it.

Summary
He glances over to the sunrise peeking over the blooming Spring trees. The clearing is calm, it’s dewy, and it’s serene. The only sounds he can hear are the birds chirping and the wind blowing. It’s night and day compared to his old corporate life in the big city, but in all honesty, Fit thinks he prefers this life better.
Hacking down trees, talking to the townspeople, watching the sun rise on his rickety lawn chair, spending every day with his family, and fishing all fucking day.
