It wasn’t that she was at all embarrassed by the thought of the team figuring out they were together, so much as she was afraid of the consequences. It was practically the first thing they were told when applying for the job: romantic relationships with other members of the team were strictly prohibited. Sharing clothes would have been obvious enough even if they didn’t both work with profilers.
Emily just didn’t want either of them to lose their jobs over something as silly as a sweater.

For JJ, having Emily back had been like being allowed to breathe deep again for the first time in five years. It was only now, the two of them finally sharing space again, without the threat of it being impermanent, that JJ had become truly aware of how keenly she had felt the absence of her, though that realisation felt far too ardent and complicated for her to express.
Or, Emily’s back and JJ feels some kind of way about it.
