Summary
Stiles, from where he’s positioned against the banister, turns towards the voice that just spoke up. What he finds waiting for him leaves an affectionate smile on his face, a warm look in his eyes: Derek’s surrounded by the soft light of the candles he just finished lighting up. The suffused light seems to make his sharp features look more soft themselves, and between that and the soft sweater the werewolf is wearing (a birthday gift from his father and Melissa, Stiles remembers with a note of pleasure), Stiles finds it hard to make the association with the angry man he met so many years ago, and this soft, relaxed one that stands by him.

Derek comes rushing in the tiny dorm room, disregarding the people that try to ask him if he needs help. Which he doesn’t, by the way, as he has picked up Stiles’ scent the moment he got into the building and remembers from his boyfriend’s characteristic rambling which dorm room is his one.
Once he gets there he doesn’t even knock on the door, just opens it and gets into the room without second guessing.What he finds is definitely not what he had in mind when he received the text that sent him in the frenzy that led to him leaving Beacon Hills and making the two hours drive to Berkley in little more than one.

The thing is, Derek hates Wednesdays. First of all, it’s a day in the middle, not quite early week, not really weekend. Also, everything bad that ever happened to him, happened on Wednesdays. He’s quite sure he met Kate on a Wednesday, for example. Maybe it was also Wednesday when, in high school, he lost his first basketball game. Wednesday is also the day he came home only to find it burned down to ashes, along with almost everyone he ever loved. So no one can really blame him if, when the stranger sits down at his table, all he gets is a glare and a sigh.
