Home to the lost, the desperate and the hopeless, Neo City is a cold and heartless place, the neon-lit refuse heap of the universe. With your trusty sidekick the Seer of Doom at your side, you sort out the missing people, the burning buildings, the muggings, even the robot cats stuck up artificial trees when you have to. But tonight you have bitten off more than you can chew. It’s not about helping someone any more. A monster who feeds on the innocent is getting bolder and stronger, and the fate of the entire city depends on you stopping them.

Summary
Liu Dehuai is only thirteen years old when Master Yong, the reclusive and kindly Taoist sage who took him and his younger brother Zhuzhen in, is murdered by a savage and inhuman killer. Dehuai sets out to find the assassin, determined to take revenge and reclaim his master's stolen Icon of the Jade Tiger. He has no way of knowing that his master's death was just one small part of an ancient and vicious being's machinations, and that his quest for vengeance will expose both Zhuzhen and himself to vile and unfathomable horrors humanity was never meant to behold.
(This fic contains no spoilers for the Shadow Hearts games and can be read as a standalone work.)
